Where is the Best Place to Go Ballroom Dancing

So, you like to dance and now you’re even taking some lessons.  Some of your friends are curious and even interested themselves and they begin to ask you questions.  “So, where do you go ballroom dancing?”

The answer to that question is two-fold.  If you want to dance, you can go anywhere they play music.  Ballroom dancing is designed to organize the steps a couple takes to match different styles of music.  it can be used with pop, rock, country, easy listening, oldies, disco music, reggae, Caribbean music and more.  The key is recognizing the music and having the experience with the dance steps and styles to dance effectively with your partner.  Dancing at an oldies dance or at a wedding may have its challenges since not everyone will be applying ballroom dance steps.  Things such as navigating the floor and arm styling will have to be well executed, and can be with practice.

If you’re not as proficient with your ballroom dancing skills, you may choose to limit your dancing to a place where everyone chooses to dance only in the ballroom style.  In this case, all people will be dancing the same way.  Floor craft, arm styling, and floor navigation will be easier for the newer dancer in this environment.

Every Wednesday and Friday night at 9 p.m., Sherry Lynn’s Ballroom Dance Center (located at 646 Main Street, Johnstown, PA 15901) offers ballroom dance parties.  All styles of social and recognized ballroom dances are played.  Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Jitterbug, and Polka are just some of the dances our students enjoy.

Some benefits to dancing at our studio include having instructors available to answer questions, beautiful atmosphere, comfortable air conditioned facility, and a large dance floor.  Theme parties are also provided to add enjoyment and variety for our dancers.  Some of our popular theme parties include a Hawaiian luau,  50’s sock hop, 70’s party and our Halloween costume party.  D.J.s and live music are also provided throughout the year.
